A poem to sculptor and poet Jimmie Durham
To Durham
Imbuing your oeuvre,
the libidinal economy
salvages the ephemeral,
preconcious desire
as superimposition hypotheses.
Invested imagination,
Searching for the savage mind
allows devotion to the practice,
With no fear.
The object, a planet of perdition,
projection,
and opaque resistance.
Internal, partial,
mythical, mute.
Alien objects
of solemn wonder.
I’m attracted to the unusual,
Through art transcend
the limits of our microcosm.
A different, liberated place.
One with no answers,
of analogical interaction,
an articulation of visual discourse.
Images that reveal the ego
begin to circulate
Illuminating extravagant,
Identities.
To Durham,
A telescope of ideas.
